A six-volume reference work, *Colophons de manuscrits occidentaux des origines au XVIe siècle*, compiled by the Benedictine monks of Le Bouveret, Switzerland, between 1965 and 1982, listing 23,774 individually catalogued manuscript colophons — the single largest compiled colophon dataset in Western medieval studies.

Matters to this vault as the dataset underlying [[claim-ommundsen-2025-colophon-bibliometric-study-measures-female-scribe-attribution-not-frequency|the 2025 Ommundsen et al. bibliometric colophon study]], the clearest example found so far of a rigorous, citable, corpus-based colophon statistic — and, by the same token, the dataset the vault would most want a direct read of if [[entity-erik-kwakkel|Erik Kwakkel]]'s "[[claim-kwakkel-2014-blog-states-one-in-seven-colophon-figure|one in seven]]" colophon-frequency figure is ever to be checked against an actual corpus count. The catalogue itself was not directly consulted this session — only read about via the Ommundsen paper's description — and its own front matter might state what population of manuscripts it draws its entries from, which could bear on colophon-frequency questions generally. See [[question-verify-kwakkel-one-in-seven-colophon-figure-against-a-corpus]].
