University of York research project, early 1990s, in which Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) originated — per the *GSN Community Standard*'s own account of its history, predating by several years the better-documented Toulmin engagement in Tim Kelly's 1998 D.Phil formalization. Not a Toulmin-free origin: the Standard places Toulmin's influence in GSN's *early* development, not among its later refinements. Watching stub: first surfaced 2026-09-03; the underlying founding paper (Wilson, McDermid, Fenelon & Kirkham, "No More Spineless Safety Cases," INEC'95) has not yet been read directly by this vault. Graduate to a full hub if that paper is read, or if ASAM-II recurs in a future capture.

- 2026-09-22 (propagation-repair): the relation between the ASAM-II origin and
  Toulmin's influence is corrected in the body above. *Was:* ASAM-II
  "predating and independent of GSN's later, better-documented
  Toulmin-influenced refinement," attributed to the *GSN Community Standard*.
  *Now:* ASAM-II predates the better-documented Toulmin engagement in Kelly's
  1998 formalization, but the Standard's own next sentence places Toulmin's
  influence in GSN's *early* development — so the origin is not independent of
