The title page and prefaces of the 1963 English translation of
[[entity-wilhelm-ropke|Wilhelm Röpke]]'s *Economics of the Free Society* are
explicit about the book's editorial history. The title page states: "First
Published in Austria in 1937 / *Die Lehre von der Wirtschaft* / (Julius
Springer, Vienna) / Translated from the 9th German Edition / Published in
Switzerland in 1961 by Eugen-Rentsch Verlag." Röpke's own 1962 preface adds
that the draft was composed in Turkish exile in 1936 and published in Vienna
"shortly before the National Socialist takeover of Austria," and that the
Gestapo later destroyed the Vienna publisher's remaining copies. Translator
Patrick M. Boarman's preface states: "Since the book first appeared in
Austria in 1937, nine Swiss [German] editions of it have been published...
Through the years, the author has continually revised and updated his book;
all of these revisions and additions have been incorporated into this
English translation."

This confirms a real, continuous line from an actual 1937 first edition
through nine German editions to the 1961 text translated here — supporting
the dating half of

claim. But it also confirms active revision across those nine editions, so
the presence of the "spontaneous order" / "commanded order" passage
confirmed in

does not, by itself, prove that exact wording was already in the 1937
original rather than added in a later German edition. The 1937 first edition
