A detailed critical Douban review of [[entity-liang-zhongtang|Liang
Zhongtang]]'s 2014 book, by a self-identified population-history researcher
(handle 水草狗, who states they consulted the book for research), opens: "the
most influential content of Liang's book is two chapters: 'The Full Story of
the Ma Yinchu Incident' and 'An Investigation into Kang Sheng and Chen
Boda's Criticism of Ma Yinchu'; these two chapters were also published
separately as a standalone volume, *An Investigation of Ma Yinchu*." The
review's roughly 2,000-word body — disputing whether Kang Sheng and Chen
Boda personally orchestrated the 1959-60 political campaign against
demographer [[entity-ma-yinchu|Ma Yinchu]] — never mentions Song Jian.
Separately, the same review glosses a critical response to the book from
economist 张曙光 (Zhang Shuguang) of the Unirule Institute, delivered with
Liang present, as centering on the same Ma Yinchu material ("我的观点与他基本
一致" — "my view is basically the same as his").

Neither reading is a systematic inventory of a 501-page book, and both are
Tier 3-4 (an anonymous-handle review; a review's own paraphrase of a second
critic's talk). Absence of mention is suggestive, not conclusive, that the
