Reading Thorndike's 1904 book directly (Internet Archive, p.14, quote grounded via `quote_check`) resolves part of that gap with a correction: Thorndike does not claim the term. "In the case of the 'college student' and the 'child born' we are misled by what Professor Aikins has called the 'jingle' fallacy." Thorndike is citing, not coining.

Herbert Austin Aikins — a philosophy professor, author of *The Principles of Logic* (1902) — has no vault entity page and no other mention in the vault. Chasing him one level further: the corresponding passage in his own 1902 book (Ch.
